Becoming a River-Friendly Resident is easy. Simply fill out the survey, which outlines actions you can take at home to protect clean water and the environment. Categories include water quality protection, lawn & garden maintenance, water conservation and wildlife habitat. If you check off a certain number of actions, you will become accumulate points. Attain 22 points to become part of our prestigious River-Friendly Resident network!

What if you don't reach the target certification score?
Your River-Friendly contact will create a customized action list and work with you to implement these additional practices, helping you reach the target score.
North American Butterfly Association's Butterfly Garden & Habitat Program: The North American Butterfly Association (NABA) is a 501 c(3) non-profit membership-based entity headquartered in Morristown, NJ. The organization's largest project is the National Butterfly Center in Mission, TX. Through an active Chapter system and engaged membership, NABA works locally to promote on-the-ground conservation work and institutes policy initiatives to further its mission.
Jersey-Friendly Yards: Developed by the Barnegat Bay Partnership with a grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, this website brings together multiple resources about the best landscaping practices to help property owners make sound decisions for a healthy environment and a healthy economy.
